the sky lay frowning as i walked back out
teardrops streaming down the pipes
played by the invisible
hands striking her down
her sorrow running down my back
soaking the skin in tears
flashing warm then hot searing
burning like the notes of my piano
wailing in the dark to bitter words.
i saw you then
eyes closed against the rain
drinking the tears that stormed
down her angry face
slaking your thirst with her life
your picture blurred into hers
and you turned to me as she dried her eyes.
i woke in the dark to the sound of invisible tears.
